San Leandro PD investigating possible burglary after suspects flee crashed vehicle

SAN LEANDRO, Calif. -- Police are investigating a possible burglary in San Leandro early Saturday morning.

According to police, a concerned citizen dialed 9-1-1 at 6:12 a.m. reporting a "burglary in progress," and possible gunfire in the 900 block of Dolittle Drive.

Police said officers responded and observed a suspicious vehicle speeding away from the area.

Officers attempted to catch up to the vehicle, but police said the driver lost control while turning and crashed into the center median.

According to police, several occupants ran from the vehicle into a nearby commercial property.

Police said evidence found at the initial location indicated a burglary may have occurred along with other possible crimes, however, no victims or witnesses were located.

Police conducted an extended search of the area where the suspects fled and the remaining occupants of the vehicle were detained, but no additional information was recovered.
