SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- The City of San Jose kicked off its second Strive Summer Internship Program Tuesday, where students from four high school districts will be going through several rounds of job interviews.

At least 200 San Jose high school students dressed in their best interview attire, with resumes tucked inside folders at San Jose City Hall Tuesday morning.

Like a speed dating event, they sat down for a series of six interviews with representatives from over 100 South Bay companies, with paid internships available. Every student has been guaranteed they will be placed, but they will have to wait until Wednesday afternoon to find out where they will be working. The selection process will be based on rankings provided by the students and the employers.

The Strive Summer Internship Program is a partnership involving the City of San Jose, the Silicon Valley Organization, and four South Bay high school districts -- Campbell Union, East Side Union, Metro Ed, and San Jose Unified. The students have been taking career development and skills building classes to prepare them for the face-to-face interviews and for creating their resumes. None appeared to be nervous, at least not visibly.

The students will be paid $12 and they'll work 20 hours a week with a max of 100 hours over six weeks.

Each is guaranteed an internship, and they'll find out where Wednesday.
