Kinky Boots to strut into San Francisco
The Tony Award-winning show Kinky Boots will bow in San Francisco this December.

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Inspired by a true-story, the six-time Tony Award-winning musical "Kinky Boots" is the story of two people overcoming their differences and coming together to achieve success.

Adapted from Harvey Fierstein's funny but moving book, the Broadway hit is scored by legendary, Grammy Award-winning singer Cyndi Lauper (her first-ever Broadway score).

The pair was recently in San Francisco where they shared the moment they knew they had a hit on their hands.

"As soon as I knew what the show as about and I started hearing Cyndi's songs, I really believed in it right away," Fierstein said.

Asked what she wanted the audience to to take away from the show Lauper said, "You do change the world when you change your mind, one at a time."

Directed and choreographed by Tony winner Jerry Mitchell, "Kinky Boots" is a feel-good musical that might have people dancing in the aisles.

The show is set to open at San Francisco's Orpheum Theatre in December 2014.
