5 arrests made in shooting death of Concord teenager, memorial for him grows
Concord Police have made five arrests in the murder of 17-year-old Lawrence Janson, who was killed Monday afternoon near his high school in the East Bay.

CONCORD, Calif. (KGO) -- Concord Police have made five arrests in the murder of 17-year-old Lawrence Janson.

"All five males have been booked on suspicion of murder and conspiracy to commit murder," said Concord Police Lt. Nick Gartner.

Police officials say Lawrence Janson was targeted but a motive for the murder remains unclear.

Janson was walking with friends near Olympic continuation high school Monday afternoon, when police say a black sedan pulled up, a group got out and someone fired on the teen, he died a short time later.

Police said the shooter is an adult but some of the suspects are juveniles.

Police have recovered a handgun and getaway car used in a crime. Authorities say none of the suspects has known ties to street gangs.

"I don't wish them dead, I just want these people locked up for the rest of their lives, it's a tragedy for the whole family," said Janson's aunt, Rhonda Lechuga.

A memorial of flowers, candles, and pictures continues to grow for Janson outside the gates of Olympic continuation high school.
