On Wednesday, June 28, police arrested Elsie De La Rosa, 23, of San Jose, for murder and felony hit-and-run for a incident that happened on Tuesday.
On June 27, say just after 7 a.m., the Campbell Police Department responded to Leigh Avenue and Montemar Way after receiving a call about an auto-pedestrian collision. A second caller reported a disturbance at the same location.
When police got on scene, they found a 23-year-old female suffering from major injuries lying in the roadway on Montemar Way.
"We believe the suspect and the victim where involved in some kind of fight, and at some point the suspect got back into the vehicle, and it appears she intentionally hit the victim," explained capt. Gary Berg with the Campbell Police Department.
The victim was transported to Valley Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries.
Witnesses at the scene described a gray four-door vehicle fleeing the scene being driven by as the possible driver - and who is a known associate of the victim.
De La Rosa was taken into custody and booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for murder and felony hit-and-run.
