A cat that had been missing for 10 years was found after surviving the Tubbs Fire and is expected to be reunited with his owner next week.

SANTA ROSA, Calif. - A cat that had been missing for 10 years was found after surviving the Tubbs Fire, one of the many raging blazes that destroyed much of the North Bay.

Pilot had apparently run away a decade ago, and when his owner moved from Santa Rosa to Colorado, she thought she'd never see him again.

However, on Tuesday, a good Samaritan found him severely burned, dehydrated and starving. Then, veterinarians were able to help Pilot and tracked down his owner thanks to a microchip.

Pilot's owner is planning to fly out to the Bay Area next week.

Once Pilot recovers, she'll bring him back home with her to Colorado.
