1,800 in Bay Area without power today

SAN FRANCISCO

Power is out for an estimated 900 customers in the North Bay, 100 in the East Bay, 560 in the South Bay and 200 in the Peninsula, according to Molica.

Power has been restored to 99.8 percent of the 1.1 million Bay Area customers who lost power when what may have been the greatest regional storm in two years hit the Bay Area, according to company spokesman Joe Molica.

"We've been making steady progress," Molica said. "We have more than 720 crews working throughout service areas."

PG&E has had difficulty restoring power to customers in rural or coastal areas where "there are mainly single customers outages," according to Molica.

Accessing some of the affected rural areas has also been difficult due to downed trees or power lines, Molica said.
