Saturday workshop on avoiding foreclosures

Oakland City Attorney John Russo, City Councilwoman Nancy Nadel and other officials announced today that there will be a workshop Saturday to assist homeowners and renters impacted by the increasing number of foreclosures in the city.

State and federal agencies, the city of Oakland and local community partners are sponsoring the mortgage resource fair, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the third floor of Oakland City Hall at 1 Frank Ogawa Plaza.

The event will include credit counselors and major loan services that will offer help with loan modifications or other options.

Oakland's Neighborhood Law Corps will give a workshop on the rights of renters in foreclosed housing and Housing & Economic Rights Advocates will give a workshop on legal claims.
