Roque Israel Rodriguez was reported missing at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday after he didn't return home from his first day at Hilliard Comstock Middle School. His parents instructed him to take the bus home, but he never showed.
Police learned Rodriguez had walked away from an after school program and went to a local mall where he spent several hours. The juvenile, who does not speak English and has no known friends in the area, had become disoriented and was unable to find his way back to his home, located in the area of West College Avenue and Putney Drive, according to police.
Rodriguez was found by family members at about 12:30 a.m. today after an extensive area search was conducted by the family and Santa Rosa police. He was not injured and did not require medical attention.
