Power outages caused due to storm

About 3,200 businesses and residents are without power tonight in the Bay Area, mainly because of stormy weather, according to Pacific Gas and Electric Co.

"In the North Bay, 920 PG&E customers are without power," said utility spokesman J.D. Guidi.

Power is out for 1,862 customers in the Peninsula; 265 in San Francisco; 72 in the East Bay; and 141 in the South Bay. There is no estimated time for when power will be restored, Guidi said.

The numbers are promising considering a major storm earlier this month knocked out power to over a million PG&E customers.

Periods of heavy rainfall are expected until 6 a.m. Saturday, meaning more power outages may occur, the utility said.
