One of the young children living in the home, located at 2393 Glen Way, awoke and discovered the fire at about 1:12 a.m. and alerted the other occupants, Battalion Chief Tim Campbell reported.
Within moments of discovering the fire, the blaze flashed and the five adults and nine children quickly escaped through the rear door and out bedroom windows, according to Campbell.
Firefighters arrived just a few minutes later, but the home was already heavily involved in fire.
A total of five engines, one truck and two battalion chiefs responded to the call.
Fire crews made an aggressive attack and were able to knock down the blaze within a few minutes, Campbell said.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The American Red Cross was notified and is helping the families with temporary housing, according to the fire district.
