Shape up with free weights!

Fitness Expert Lorrie Sullenberger shows us how to tone up that middle section:

  • Weight gain around the middle is based in hormonal shifts. It is real and number one complaint of the women in our gym.
  • Most dangerous kind of fat because it is more directly related to heart disease.
  • Find out what your BMI is. It is a calculation that tells you your risk based on the relationship between your height and waist measurement.
  • Most women lift weights that are too small. If you can talk easily you are not getting the maximum benefit out of the exercise.
  • If you have been lifting the same weight for a long time your body has adapted. Change it by increasing the weight, do more repetitions, go slower.
  • You will not bulk up. How we build muscle is based on our genetics. Most women do not have enough testosterone in their body to get bulky.

Tools Lorrie had:

    5 lb. hand weights
    8 lb. hand weights
    10 lb. hand weights
    Weighted jump rope
    Yoga mat
A colorful weighted hula hoops to make it fun
