One dead, two critical from S.J. crash

SAN JOSE, CA

The driver of one vehicle drove through a red light at the intersection of East Brokaw and Oakland roads shortly before 2 a.m. and plowed into another vehicle traveling through the intersection, San Jose police Officer Enrique Garcia said.

A woman was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Garcia.

Two victims were transported to an area hospital and were listed in critical condition, Garcia said.

The identifications of the victims in the crash have not been released, Garcia said.

The driver in the crash, San Jose resident Guillermo Ruiz, 32, was admitted to a local hospital with minor injuries, according to Garcia. Ruiz was also arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, Garcia said.
