Officers responded to the 4800 block of Deer Valley Road shortly after 6:30 a.m. where Louis Acurra was being restrained by neighbors after assaulting his mother, police said.
Acurra's 78-year-old mother was transported to a local hospital where she was treated and later released, according to officials.
Acurra had been living with his mother prior to this incident, police said.
Acurra was arrested for attempted murder and elder abuse, according to officials.
