Memorial services scheduled for cyclists

Memorials are set for two competitive cyclists who died in Sunday's crash in Cupertino. The attorney for the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Deputy blamed for the crash says he worked a 12-hour shift the day before. That's not unusual in police work.

Deputy James Council was four-hours into another 12-hour shift when he told witnesses he fell asleep at the wheel of his patrol car. His attorney says fatigue may have been a factor in the crash.

There will be a memorial tonight in San Francisco for cyclist Matt Peterson. It starts at 7:00pm at the Sports Basement, a store on Bryant Street.

Then Saturday, there will be a memorial ride for both Peterson, and cyclist Kristy Gough of Oakland. Riders will meet at 2:30 Saturday afternoon at Foothill College.
