Preliminary reports indicated a pedestrian was fatally struck by a Ford Ranger in the southbound lanes of Highway 880 at West Tennyson Road shortly after 4 a.m., the CHP reported.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, CHP Officer Tom Stewart said.
Southbound lane Nos. 1 and 2 were blocked for more than an hour while officials investigated the crash. All lanes reopened at about 5:40 a.m. and a Sig-alert issued at 4:29 a.m. was lifted at 5:42 a.m., according to the CHP.
No other injuries were reported, CHP Officer Marc Johnston said.
