San Rafael police to hold checkpoints

The San Rafael Police Department will target drunken and unlicensed drivers Friday night with two checkpoints, police announced.

Between 6:30 p.m. and a 9:30 p.m. a checkpoint will be set up at westbound Andersen Drive between Francisco Boulevard West and Du Bois Street.

Police will conduct a second checkpoint on northbound Irwin Street between Fourth Street and Fifth Avenue from 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday.

The checkpoints are among several traffic enforcement operations funded by a $378,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Enforcement through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
