Boy dies in car-motorcycle crash
NAPA Napa police said a 12-year-old boy died when he was thrown from
the rear of a motorcycle driven by his father during a collision with a car
on the Silverado Trail in Napa this morning.
Cmdr. Andy Lewis said the Napa boy was pronounced dead at Queen of
the Valley Medical Center at 7:40 a.m. The accident was reported at 7:06 a.m.
and the Silverado Trail was expected to be closed until around noon, Lewis
said.
Lewis said 90-year-old Marilyn Heinricher of Napa was making a
left turn from Ashlar Drive onto southbound Silverado Trail when her car
collided with the northbound motorcycle.
The father, also a Napa resident, and his son were wearing
helmets. Their names are not being released and alcohol is not suspected as a
cause of the crash, Lewis said.
The father and Heinricher suffered minor injuries, Lewis said.
