Santa Rosa police arrested two 20-year-old drivers on suspicion of street racing and child endangerment Monday.

Elvis Barragan and Ryan Fleming, both of Santa Rosa, were booked into the Sonoma County jail, Sgt. Eric Goldschlag said. Police impounded the drivers' cars.

A patrol officer in the area of West Third Street and Valley West Drive heard tires screeching, saw skid marks and the two vehicles traveling side by side on West Third Street, Goldschlag said. The drivers were speeding up to 90 mph, Goldschlag said, but the officer stopped the cars before they reached Fulton Road.

Barragan and Fleming admitted they were racing and each driver had one minor passenger in his car, Goldschlag said. The minors were released to their parents.
