Police identify man killed outside church

RICHMOND, CA

Authorities say a homeless man they've identified as Jimmy Carter of Richmond died at the scene Sunday morning after being shot outside the Church of the Living God.

Police say Carter and two other homeless men were hit by gunfire when they showed up for breakfast and Bible study at the church.

Richmond investigators believe the shooting of the three men was probably connected to a shooting that took place one block away minutes earlier.

Two men were wounded in that shooting. Police say one of those men appeared to be the intended victim, but it's unclear why the gunman later fired on the men outside the church.

Two of the four men wounded in the shootings have been treated and released.

The two others were hospitalized in stable condition.
