Mountain lion spotted in Woodland Hills

WOODLAND HILLS Two police helicopters and about a dozen officers searched for the big cat near the 4900 block of Queen Florence Lane.

A security guard had first spotted the cat around midnight, launching a massive hour-long search for the animal.

"One of our patrol officers was doing a check of the area and saw a cat big possibly a cougar -- we're not sure what type -- a mountain lion walking through the neighborhood and it ended up in the bushes over here," said Mike Flynn, a security guard

Police were unable to find the mountain lion, and authorities said residents have reason to be concerned because the guard said it looked like a full grown cat.

Police are unsure where the cat came from, or what the cat came for.
