Police have arrested a 41-year-old man on suspicion of drunken driving and vehicular manslaughter for allegedly causing a crash in Oakley Sunday evening that killed a 65-year-old Bethel Island motorcyclist, Sgt. Steve Perata said today.

Robert Feit, 41, allegedly told police that the sun was in his eyes and he couldn't see when he made a left turn from East Cypress Road into a driveway in the 2400 block at about 7:45 p.m.

Feit's pickup truck turned directly into the path of an oncoming motorcycle being driven by Jack Gilbert. Gilbert struck the pickup and died before police arrived.

Feit called police, reported the crash and remained on the scene to give police a statement, but allegedly tested positive for alcohol, Perata said.

Feit was booked into county jail, according to police.

Jail officials said today that he has since posted bail and is no longer in custody.
