Teenager killed in San Pablo car crash

SAN PABLO, CA

A Contra Costa County deputy coroner today identified the victim as 18-year-old San Pablo resident Octavio Romoflores.

Romoflores had reportedly been speeding on eastbound I-80 at San Pablo Dam Road when his vehicle, a 2005 Chevy Impala, drifted off the roadway and struck a concrete bridge abutment at about 1:50 a.m., the California Highway Patrol reported.

The front end of the Impala was crushed upon impact, killing Romoflores.

The rear of the vehicle then swung out, re-entering the roadway, where it was struck by three vehicles.

A 34-year-old San Pablo man suffered minor lacerations to his head and face and a 69-year-old Pinole man complained of chest pain. The third driver was not injured in the crash, according to the CHP.

Three lanes of the highway were closed for about two and a half hours while CHP officers investigated the crash.
