Our kids are growing up in a computer driven, instant communication, Internet world and creating online profiles at younger and younger ages. How closesly should we as parents monitor them? Yahoo! Web Life Editor Heather Cabot gives some helpful advice.

Tips for parents to help them watch over their child's online persona:

1) Encourage your child to share their online profile with you.

2) Encourage your child to make you a "friend" in their face book profile or other online site

3) Tell them to NEVER USE personal identifiers (ie name, address, etc.)

4) Utilize Search engines and "look up" your child's name

For more information on this topic, read Yahoo's online parenting guide on "Teaching Children About Online Risks."
