Fire burns Diablo Valley College building

PLEASANT HILL, CA

The blaze, reported around 2:15 a.m., burned for about 20 minutes before firefighters controlled it, school officials said.

The 40-foot by 60-foot wooden building, located in the southeast area of the campus on Golf Club Road, was heavily damaged and is unusable. No other structures were damaged, and classes were not impacted, school officials said.

Police Services set up a temporary operations center in the parking lot in front of the burned building, and the post was then moved to the Business/Foreign Language Community Conference Room on Monday afternoon, campus officials said.

School officials plan to decide soon on a long-term location for the command center.
