"Lassie" friends want to stop neuter law

SACRAMENTO, CA

"Laddie" was in Sacramento Tuesday, along with the actor who played Timmy in the original "Lassie" series.

They were brought there to fight a so-called "three strikes" law for pets. The law would force pet owners to neuter dogs and cats that violate state pet regulations three times.

"There's no appeal, there's no reporting process, so consequently it's pretty draconian," Bill Hemby of the Pet Political Action Committee said.

The state senate local government committee is set to hear the bill Wednesday.
