Bomb scare in SF ends peacefully

The San Francisco bomb squad has closed down part of Carl Street in the Cole Valley area.

Residents have said they have heard that a mortar shell was discovered inside an apartment, but this has not been confirmed by San Francisco police.

Officials rolled out a remote-controlled bomb robot.

Carl Street is closed between Stanyan Street and Willard Street. Muni service in the area, including the N-Judah line, has been disrupted.

The situation has ended peacefully and no injuries have been reported.
