Growing your own herb garden is fun and it's a perfect project to do with the kids this summer!

Lisa Quinn outlines how to get it done:

Make your own herb garden for less than $30:

  • Fill pot with soil. Use 2-3 inches of potting soil.
  • Use broken stones or rocks on the bottom of pot to help with drainage.
  • Put in herbs, add different colors and textures.
  • You can use edible flowers to add color.

    Herbs:

  • Hardy Herbs: lavender, thyme, oregano and rosemary.
  • Citrus trees: lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit.

You can buy herbs and edible flowers at your local nursery.
