They were handing out sanitary wipes to passengers near American Airlines terminals at SFO and LAX.
The workers claim their job is made more difficult by understaffing, quick turnarounds and not enough cleaning equipment. In some cases, they are cleaning airline toilets with only water because disinfectant is not availible, the workers said.
The overnight contract workers have access to the same ample supplies airline employees use during the day, a spokesperson for American said.
