June Sheldon said her termination came after she told students about a German scientist's claim that stress during a mother's pregnancy can cause homosexuality in the child.
Sheldon claimed the district's board of trustees violated her rights to academic freedom and due process when it voted to dismiss her after a student complained about the comments.
Sheldon said she brought up the scientist's research as part of her response to another student's question about the link between homosexuality and heredity.
