The Beijing Olympics are less than two weeks away and Leigh Glaser got the chance to meet with one local Olympian who is about to leave for China with her sights set on gold!

Heather Petri of Orinda is making her third and final appearance in the Olympics. She was a member of the debut Olympic Women's Water Polo Team in 2000, and one of two who are still on the team. She won a Silver Medal in 2000, a Bronze Medal in 2004 and hopes to bring home the Gold in 2008.

In the mid 90's Heather jumped into the pool at Miramonte High School with the Boy's Water Polo Team. She refused to get out and played on the boy's team until a girls program was started. She spearheaded the Girl's Water Polo program in Lamorinda and surrounding communities.

She graduated from UC Berkeley. She is currently trying to decide if she will go back to school, coach water polo, or pursue a career in Marine Biology.
