At about 2:15 p.m., Vernon Griffin was driving a 1988 GMC S-15 truck north on Peabody Road. As he approached Caldwell Drive, the vehicle veered off the road, struck a curb and tree, and then flipped over, police reported.
The Vacaville resident was killed in the crash. Witnesses who had been driving behind the truck reported that Griffin had been traveling from Fairfield at about 40 to 45 mph.
The crash remains under investigation and the Solano County coroner's office will conduct an autopsy to determine the official cause of death.
