Residents protest unsafe constructions

SAN FRANCISCO Demonstrators say several people have been injured at the Northridge Cooperative Homes in Bayview Hunters Point. Protestors met on Tuesday with the company rehabbing the homes. A management spokesman says safety is a top priority. But residents say that's just not true. "We need health and safety, no safety zone since recap started," said resident Nina Donehue. "Whenever we see things wrong we bring them up meeting every Tuesday if it's something egregious we get on it right away," said Alfred Reynolds from Alton Management Corp. Protestors also say they want more local residents hired to work on the project. The management company says 20 of the 80 construction workers live in the neighborhood.
