A new study may help clear up the confusion over the risks and benefits of hormone replacement therapy.

Australian researchers say hormones remain the most effective treatment for menopause symptoms.

The findings support other emerging research suggesting that most women can take hormones safely, provided they use the smallest dose for the shortest amount of time.

Previous studies have linked hormone treatment to increased risks for blood clots, heart attack and breast cancer.
