The incident was captured on video, obtained by the ABC7 I-Team. It shows a San Francisco fire lieutenant sneaking up behind Nick Torrico, after a struggle, Torrico slips and falls off the roof.
The firefighter had turned off his radio, so he didn't hear his commanders warning him not to move in. Torrico's family filed a wrongful death suit against the city last year.
The settlement, which does not specify how much will be paid in damages, will now go before the Fire Commission. They are expected to vote on Thursday to send it to the Board of Supervisors for final approval.
