A 51-year-old woman who crashed her car into a tree in Napa tonight succumbed to her injuries upon arrival to the hospital, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The Napa resident was driving a 1991 Honda Civic north on Golden Gate Drive south of W. Imola Avenue around 5:55 p.m. when she made an unsafe turn and the vehicle struck a tree, the CHP said.

She was transported by ambulance and then helicopter to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead, the CHP said.

Golden Gate Drive was reduced to one-way traffic for about 30 minutes. The CHP said alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the crash.
