Zesty pesto pizza sauce

Host of the PBS cooking show "Bringing it Home" and author of "Entertaining at Home with America's Top Chefs," Laura McIntosh shares a recipe for zesty garlic pesto sauce.

Laura's Easy Garlic Pesto Sauce
Serves 2

Ingredients:

  • 2 Cups Fresh Basil Leaves
  • 3 Cloves Fresh Garlic, chopped
  • ½ Cup Parmesan Cheese, freshly grated
  • 2/3 Cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • ¼ Cup Pine Nuts
  • Salt & Pepper, to taste

    Directions:
    Pour all ingredients into a food processor and blend until thoroughly combined

    **Options for a creamier sauce: Add half a stick of butter or ¼ cup of cream

    Adjust ingredients to your preference.

    Here are a few ways you can use your sauce:

  • Use it as a dip with sliced baguette
  • Use it with a Salad Caprese
  • Pour it over Pecorino Cheese
  • Put it on a crostini with copped tomato and onions
  • Use in minestrone soup
  • Spread it on pizza in place of red sauce
