Alice Hoagland of Los Gatos, who lost her son Mark Bingham in the crash of hijacked Flight 93, is on the board of a group called MyGoodDeed.org. It asked the presidential candidates not to campaign Thursday.

Hoagland visited Ground Zero in New York for the first time Thursday.

"It was very touching indeed. Just hugging people I don't know. It was hard to stand there and see those handsome men in their dark blue and holding up placards and signs of people they loved and worked with and now are gone."

In Shanksville, Pennsylvania bells tolled for each of the 40 heroes of United Flight 93 who crashed the plane into a field before the hijackers accomplished their mission.
