Christian W. Jaskela suffered major injuries in the accident and was initially taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, according to the California Highway Patrol. He was later transferred to Children's Hospital.
The boy's father, Wayde Jaskela, 32, was driving a 1989 Chevrolet Silverado pickup through a private gated driveway at 3585 Moorland Ave. in Santa Rosa around 5 p.m. when his son broke away from his mother's grasp as the truck passed by, according to the CHP.
The boy fell in front of the left rear wheel of the truck and was run over, the CHP said.
