A few minutes later, officers responded to a nearby traffic collision in the 1500 block of Derby Street. Investigators concluded that the driver was involved in the shooting, and was traveling away from the shooting eastbound before succumbing to his gunshot wounds and crashing into a parked car, Frankel said.
The driver of the car has been identified as a 26-year-old Berkeley man, Frankel said.
Police have not established a motive for the shooting yet, and the investigation is ongoing, according to Frankel.
