Oakland police are investigating a carjacking and shooting early this morning that left a victim in stable condition at a local hospital.

The carjacking was reported at about 12:40 a.m. in the 2500 block of 66th Avenue, according to police. The victim's car was apparently approached by two men, and one suspect shot at the victim using a shotgun with buckshot cartridges, police said.

The victim suffered gunshot wounds to the arm and head, but the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, according to police.

The suspects took the victim's vehicle but police recovered it a few blocks away from the scene of the shooting after the suspects apparently left it and fled.
