A Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority bus rear-ended another bus on the same line in San Jose this afternoon and sent two people to the hospital, a VTA spokeswoman said.

The No. 22 bus traveling east on East Santa Clara Street near South 23rd Street and hit another No. 22 bus from behind around 2:30 p.m., spokeswoman Brandi Childress said.

Childress said six or seven people suffered injuries and two of them went to the hospital with injuries that were not considered life threatening.

The intersection was closed while the buses were being cleared but service on the No. 22 line should not experience much of a delay because it is being rerouted, she said.
