A fire at a two-story Oakland building Wednesday night displaced at least 13 people, a fire lieutenant said.

Crews responded to the one-alarm blaze in the 5600 block of Shattuck Avenue around 9:45 p.m.

Oakland fire Lt. David Brue described the building as a multi-use structure that contains apartment units and a business in front.

The blaze was controlled at 10:06 p.m. No injuries were reported.

The American Red Cross responded to assist one man, seven women and five children who were displaced, Brue said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
