Police investigate suspicious death

San Mateo police are treating a body found in a slough this morning alongside an athletic path in the city as a suspicious death, police Lt. Mike Brunicardi said.

The body was located in the area of J Hart Clinton Drive and Anchor Road around 8:15 a.m. Brunicardi said a passerby noticed the body in a slough alongside a path that runs parallel to J Hart Clinton Drive.

Foster City firefighters helped recover the body from the water.

San Mateo police and the San Mateo County coroner's office are working to determine the cause of death and the identity of the man.
