Diet-friendly foods

Fresh Herbs: Fresh Herbs are full of flavor and provide a great taste naturally, with very few calories and zero fat. With a quick chop and a sprinkle you can easily boost the appeal of many foods from roast chicken to a simple green salad.

Beans: Beans are rich in fiber and protein and can bulk up salads, soups and are great in tortillas.

Whole Wheat Pasta: Use whole wheat pasta to create meals that are as healthy as they are satisfying. Whole wheat pasta contains two to three times as much fiber as refined-wheat pasta.

Smart Beverages: Whether it's soda, energy drinks, sports drinks, coffee or frozen beverages, calories can add up. For example a 16-ounce frozen coffee drink with whipped cream is nearly 400 calories. Flavored water and sugar free mix-ins are a great way to keep calories down. Also consider tea instead of a specialty coffee drink.

Weight Watchers snacks: Indulge in Weight Watchers snacks to help you get through your 3:00p.m. snack craving without going overboard.

Lose For Food campaign information:
San Francisco residents are losing weight and for a good cause with the help of Weight Watchers. This month Weight Watcher kicks off its Lose for Good program, a campaign created to empower people to get healthier while also giving back to others in need.

For every pound lost by Weight Watchers Members in San Francisco and across the country, Weight Watchers will donate the cost of one pound of food -- up to one million dollars. The funds will go to two hunger-fighting organizations: Share Our Strength and Action Against Hunger.

Weight Watchers is also rallying San Francisco members and employees to participate in local food drives by donating food to support fellow community members in need. The food collected will be donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties.

About Stan Cardoza:
Stan struggled with his weight since the age of 10. He finally decided to take charge of his health and joined Weight Watchers in 1993, after witnessing the weight-loss success of a close friend who recommended the program. When he first joined, he joined a meeting that consisted of about 80 women. But he continued to attend because the program made sense. "I was outnumbered by women! But I stuck to it, because it wasn't a quick-fix diet. The program taught healthy lifestyle changes - and I wanted something I could stick to. Besides, the program has evolved so much. These days there are more men in the meeting rooms, we even have Weight Watchers Online for Men." Stan Lost 40 lbs Has maintained his weight since 1993.
