Ridership was up across the board, with a 9.1 percent increase in bus ridership and a 14.8 percent increase in light rail ridership when compared with September 2007. Total monthly system ridership was about 4.1 million, an increase of 10.4 percent over last year.
"Given the high cost of gas, the growing green consciousness and VTA's improved service, more Santa Clara Valley residents than ever are relying on public transportation," Cupertino Mayor and VTA board member Dolly Sandoval said.
