One of the Bay Area's most popular DJs is retiring.

KFOG'S Dave Morey announced his retirement Friday on his morning show. Morey has worked in radio for 40 years, the last 26 at KFOG.

In that time, he's built a loyal following. His fans are affectionately known as "fogheads."

Many of them called in Friday to say their mornings won't be the same.

"You have been like a lifeline for me, and I'm so happy for you, and I'm standing here crying," said one caller.

"You got me going too, thanks. That's the rough stuff, that's so nice. KFOG Hello," said Morey.

Morey's last regular program will be December 19th, but he plans on continuing his popular 10 at 10 program from his retirement home in Michigan.
