Two quakes strike near the Geysers

The U.S. Geological Survey is reporting two small earthquakes struck near the Geysers in Sonoma County this morning.

The USGS is reporting an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.0 struck at about 4:15 a.m.

According to the USGS, the earthquake had a depth of 1.1 miles and was centered 2 miles east of the Geysers and 14 miles east of Cloverdale.

About two minutes earlier, the USGS also reported an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 2.0 struck in the same area.

According to the USGS, the earlier earthquake had a depth of 1.5 miles and was centered 3 miles north-northwest of the Geysers and 11 miles east-northeast of Cloverdale.
