The City of San Leandro launched a new Web site this week that provides citizens with a variety of crime prevention and statistic information.

The site, which is part of the city's official Web site at http://www.ci.san-leandro.ca.us, also includes features such as the ability for neighborhoods to access information on calls for service and crimes that take place in their area.

The site also offers information on current crime trends, as well as alerts regarding specific crimes.

"We are excited to roll out this helpful new resource for our community," Police Chief Dale Attarian said in a prepared statement.

"The new site will greatly enhance our ability to provide timely crime information directly to our residents and businesses," Attarian said. "It will help individuals take positive steps toward protecting themselves and their properties."
