A big rig crash and small fuel spill blocked three lanes of northbound U.S. Highway 101 in Sunnyvale Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The solo-vehicle collision was reported at about 4:35 a.m. just north of N. Mathilda Avenue on Highway 101, according to CHP Officer A. Paulson.

About 10 to 15 gallons of fuel leaked from the big rig onto the roadway, Paulson said. The three left lanes of Highway 101 are blocked while crews clean up the spill and move the vehicle.

Traffic was diverted off of the highway to Fair Oaks Avenue, according to the CHP.

The three left lanes of Highway 101 were blocked while crews cleaned the spill and moved the vehicle. The No. 3 lane reopened at about 7:45 a.m., but two other lanes remained closed, Officer Peter Van Eckhardt said.

A Sig-alert issued at about 5:20 a.m. was canceled just before 8:30 a.m.
